Design Distributors President Adam Avrick has been elected Chairman of Printing Industries Alliance (PIA), a regional resource for business support and connections in the paper and mailing community across New York State, Northern New Jersey, and Northwestern Pennsylvania.
Avrick was elected at the PIA Board of Directors Meeting on June 16 at the nonprofit Western New York Book Arts Center in Buffalo, NY alongside new Vice Chairman Glen Boemer, CEO of Sentinel Innovation, and Secretary/Treasurer George Scharr, CEO of Flower City Group.
A nonprofit trade association of graphic communications firms across the Northeast, PIA is dedicated to increasing members’ profitability and promoting the industry. The group is recognized as a preeminent source of support services, programs, networking, and growth opportunities within the regional print, paper, mailing, and packaging community.
Avrick’s latest honor comes on the heels of his return as a keynote panelist at the 2022 Inkjet Summit in April, and his expansion of additional state-of-the-art printing innovations at his family-owned, full-service direct mail marketing company Design Distributors.
Avrick is no stranger to leadership roles throughout the direct mail industry. Since joining PIA in 2008, he’s served as its Vice Chairman, Secretary, and Director. He currently also serves as a trustee of its Workers’ Compensation Safety Group Executive Committee.
In September 2013, the U.S. Postal Service honored him with its National PCC Industry Member of the Year Gold Award.
These leadership roles and prestigious accolades reflect Avrick’s deep experience, expertise, and profound knowledge of the direct mail industry—evident in his commitment to ensuring optimal experiences for Design Distributors customers.
Initially founded as an envelope manufacturer in 1966, Avrick has led Design Distributors since 1993, growing it into a premier, full-service direct mail marketing, printing, and mailing company. Most recently, he spearheaded the Deer Park, NY-based, one-stop shop’s further upgrades in digital printing, from an HP PageWide Web Press T240 to a T250 HD. The latter is the most advanced and media versatile digital inkjet web printer in modern printing.
A native New Yorker, Avrick graduated with a bachelor’s degree in printing systems management from Rochester Institute of Technology. His visits to the neighboring city of Buffalo for obligatory chicken wings during these years sparked his love for the food, he remembers fondly.
After graduation, Avrick took his talents internationally, as a quality control specialist for a large European publishing company.
In addition to this newly elected PIA Chairman position, Avrick currently serves as a member of the Steering Committee for Printing Industries Alliance of Long Island (PIALI), and the Industry Chairperson of the Long Island Postal Customer Council (LIPCC).
Across Avrick’s decades of industry experience, he has served on a number of boards including the Graphic Artist Professionals, Young Printing Executives Club, RIT Printing Alumni Association, and Long Island chapter of the Young Presidents Association.
